Each team is required to wear official tournament jerseys. Before all games there will be a 5 minute warm-up without pucks, and games consist of 2 periods of 15 minutes each, including stop time with a 3 minute break between the two periods, where teams will remain in the players’ bench. Each team should be ready to start the game at the given time, delays might be sanctioned with a forfeit. Each team has a 30 second time-out for each period. In preliminary matches, the result of each half is considered separately for awarding points.
The games are directed by official referees of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation (SIHF). The SIHF rules of play apply with the following modifications: only 2-minute penalties (with numerical inferiority), 5-minute disciplinary or match penalties may be imposed. Match penalties automatically result in disqualification of the punished player for the next group match or, if a repeat offender, for the entire continuation of the tournament. Referees’ decisions cannot be overruled. In case of serious infractions, the tournament jury may suspend a player, coach or assistant for one or more games.
Each half of the preliminary matches is awarded 2 points for victory, 1 point for tie and 0 for defeat or forfeit (with result 0-5). The preliminary ranking is drawn up according to the following criteria: points, head-to-head (sum of the two halves), goal difference, number of goals scored, and draw. In case of tie in any of the placement games, each team will have 3 penalty shots, In case of a further tie, it is continued to the bitter end.
All participating teams are awarded prizes. The team with the fewest penalty minutes over the span of the tournament receives the Fair-play award (in case of a tie, the worst ranked). The most original audience receives the Supporter award. The presence of all teams at the awards ceremony is mandatory. All players should wear the official tournament jersey. Shirts are offered as souvenirs to all participants.
